PACKED LUNCHES AND LOVE

Packed lunches as opportunities for caring & creativity 💖💖🍞🥨🍞

Sandwiches and packed lunches are expressions of love and creativity.  An opportunity to show a loved one you care in the middle of the trials of a hectic work day.  Hurtful and stressful incidents often remain untold stories in an effort to stoically shoulder the unpleasant alone .  Why bother the rest of the family ?  Appetites while at work may not even be the heartiest , but opening the box with a touch of gratefulness , safe in the knowledge that they are loved and cared for deeply , brings on a feeling of invincibility !  
While I prepare ,  I picture my family as they might be later that day   ….. in a college campus , at a busy desk amidst papers and phones ,  seated in a car taking a break from traffic , at a work site ,  in a call centre having dealt with a few irate customers .…   In the midst of  work turmoil and “overwhelmed-ness” , my packed lunch is a mini-escape and small taste of home.  It  feels reassuring to bite into a morsel of love . 

I try to rustle up a light healthy meal with what’s available ,  in keeping with my pantry-cook mentality and aversion to waste.  I try and find perfectly sized containers , add a touch of color , variety in taste and texture , something sweet to end with . 

Yes, tuck boxes are occasions for early morning creativity !  Sandwiches are opportunities to show someone you care !
